New interUCAmbio language exchange between the UCA and The University of Southern Mississippi. 16 June 2026
The Faculty of Economics and Business Studies at the University of Cádiz hosted a new edition of the interUCAmbio language exchange programme today, 16 June, this time involving students from The University of Southern Mississippi as part of their academic placement at the UCA. Around 30 students spent the morning socialising, practising languages and engaging in cultural exchange in a relaxed atmosphere, which included a light breakfast and numerous conversation activities in English and Spanish.
The activity, organised by the University School of Modern Languages (CSLM), forms part of the interUCAmbios service, a free initiative promoted by the Vice-Rectorate for Internationalisation and the Directorate-General for Language Policy at the University of Cádiz to encourage practical language use and expand the network of international contacts among students. This programme combines one-to-one meetings and regular group sessions to encourage collaborative learning and language immersion.
The event also forms part of the extra-curricular activities that complement the Spanish language and culture immersion programme undertaken by American students at the UCA. The collaboration between the two universities has been well-established since 2015, reinforced by a specific mobility agreement signed in 2023, which has enabled a steady stream of students from Mississippi to come to Cádiz.
The presence of Southern Miss students in Cádiz reflects this American university’s commitment to promoting international language and cultural learning experiences, particularly through its ‘Spanish in Spain’ programme, which is delivered at the University of Cádiz as a leading destination for immersion in Andalusia.
With initiatives such as this, the University of Cádiz, through its CSLM, continues to consolidate its commitment to internationalisation and to offering educational experiences that go beyond the classroom, fostering intercultural coexistence and the personal and academic enrichment of its university community.
