Students from Massachusetts (USA) and Tbilisi (Georgia) close the academic summer at the University of Cadiz

The Vice-Rectorate for Internationalisation of the University of Cadiz has welcomed the last students of the summer, more than thirty participants from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell (USA) and from a reference teaching centre in Tbilisi (Georgia), the Carmen Spanish Language and Culture Centre, who will carry out an academic stay as part of the international programmes organised by the Centro Superior de Lenguas Modernas (CSLM).

The welcome ceremony was held in the Salón de Grados of the Faculty of Medicine and was given by Leonor Acosta, General Director of Language Policy and the CSLM, together with María Fernández, coordinator of the CSLM, and the heads of the programmes in Lowell and Tbilisi, María Matz and Natia Akhalaia respectively.

The UMass Lowell programme, which first came to the University of Cadiz in 2011, was formalised through a framework collaboration agreement in July of that year. In 2023, the agreement was extended and updated, with the aim of strengthening relations between the two institutions and fostering new academic collaborations.

For its part, the Tbilisi programme, which has come this year with a group of 20 Georgian students, is the first time it has visited the University of Cadiz and it is planned that next year the collaboration will be extended and the number of participants will be increased.
